she is Ana and Sofia's grandmother who has opened her home to her daughter-in-law and two granddaughters following the death of her son who succumbed to lung cancer. Luisa is a kind, God-fearing woman, grieving a great loss, but happy to be surrounded by family. She has her reservations about Bella, whom she faults for having no purpose or direction in life, not sure that she is someone Ana should befriend. Like some older people, she is entrenched in old and harmful ideologies about those "outside" her world. Must speak fluent Spanish.
