Amanda Seyfried says 'Mean Girls' was her 'best work'

Amanda Seyfried is getting quite a bit of love for her latest films "Lovelace" and "Les Misérables." But the actress is most proud of a little film she made back in the day with Tina FeyLindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams.

Yes, she's talking about "Mean Girls."

"It's been such a slow move for me," she told IndieWire. "I've just worked a long time. I've gotten a lot of cool opportunities here and there and I've made some good choices with the help of my amazing team.... I still look back at 'Mean Girls' as my best work."

At age 18, Seyfriend played the — ahem — well-endowed ditz Karen Smith, whose body parts had a knack for predicting the weather, in the Fey-written comedy. The film is one of the few burnished items in her cohort Lohan's filmography.

"I was so innocent. I was so green," Seyfried explained. "I look back and I'm like, 'Really, I thought I was doing a terrible job.' But it was written so well and so wonderfully directed. [Director] Mark Waters made me look good; he made me funny. And Tina Fey wrote the coolest script of all time. I'm so grateful for every experience."

While she's seen success with HBO's "Big Love" and "Les Miz," the latest hype surrounding the actress comes from "Lovelace," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this week. Seyfried plays 1970s porn icon Linda Lovelace, does quite a bit of nudity and reenacts "Deep Throat" sceneswith costar Peter Sarsgaard, who plays her husband, Chuck Traynor, in the film.

"I had a hard time letting go of Linda at the end of the movie," she told the Associated Press. "I had a really intense time withPeter Sarsgaard. I think we both had a hard time letting go because we went to these places.

"He played a man who consistently beat his wife. And I played a woman who was raped and abused, psychologically and physically. I was constantly taking my clothes off. I didn't have an issue with that. She had an issue with that. So it was a lot. And the only thing that helped was getting onto 'Les Miz.'"

In "Les Miz," Seyfried plays the supporting role of Cosette, the beautiful daughter of a prostitute whose well-being and love story become central plot points in the film based on Victor Hugo's novel.

Apart from the Abba musical movie hit "Mamma Mia," Seyfried hasn't seen all that much success in leading roles. We're looking at you, "Red Riding Hood," "In Time,""Jennifer's Body" and "Letters to Juliet." So should we really be surprised that "Mean Girls" is her favorite claim to fame?
