PITT vs DEPP in 2012

Moviegoers are going to be forced to choose between two of Hollywood's most attractive leading men at the box office Christmas next year.

On Tuesday, Paramount announced that it would release "World War Z," a thriller starring Brad Pitt and based on Max Brooks’ best-selling novel "World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War," on Dec. 21, 2012. That is the same date that Disney has selected to release its version of "Lone Ranger," which features Johnny Depp.

"World War Z," which is being directed by Marc Forster, has Pitt playing a United Nations employee who is trying to stop zombies from overtaking humanity. Gore Verbinski's "Lone Ranger," on the other hand, is about a masked Texan hero who was the subject of a 1930s radio show and was later the focus of a television show that ran from 1949 to 1957.

Still, December 2012 is a long way away, and it's possible that either Paramount or Disney will change the date for their release depending on how well test audiences receive the different marketing campaigns and materials. After all, crowds should never really have to pick one charming A-lister over another, should they?
